The Institute Celebrated festival of entrepreneurs on 17th October 2019, with the aim of enriching the trainees with business ideas and entrepreneurship skills. The festival was observed with the guest lecture by Mr. Ugyen Dorji one of the successful entrepreneur, the proprietor of UD construction in Bumthang and Mrs. Chogyal Lhamo who is currently proprietor of Green Bhutan Waste Management based at Bumthang.

The solar water heating system specialist Mr. Neeraj from Nepal, JB private company, Department of Renewable Energy under Ministry of Economic Affair and the Institute will again install a solar water heating system in one of the remaining hostels starting from 15th to 20th June 2019, with the signing of MoU between two government agencies (TTI-Chumey & MoEA). During the installation, two staff from the JWPTI, three staff from TTI Chumey, three staff from JB Private company and thirteen plumbing NC III trainees will be trained for five days apart from curriculum-based training. The program was funded by HELVETAS project, Ministry of Labour and Human Resources.
The technicians from Bumthang dzongkhag, hospital, and other agencies participated in plumbing and welding short courses. The course duration was of two weeks for both the plumbing and welding and their training was completed on 12th June 2019 with the certification from the vice principal of the institute.
Eight participants from DGPC attended carpentry short course in the institute. The course was of ten days with effect from 27th May to 6th June 2019.
Officials from the Ministry of labour and Human Resources conducted training on Occupational Health and Safety for three days in the Institute and the participants are from various agencies. On the fourth day, the officials advocate on the importance of OHS at the workplace to the trainees and the staff of the Institute.
On 30th April 2019, the institute received his Excellency the Minister of Labour and Human Resources and the officials.
The visit boosts the morale of the trainees and the staff working under the ministry, the minister highlighted the importance of TVET in the country and the trainees are now aware of the career progression with the higher exiting level. Moreover, Lyonpo made the clear pronouncement that the mindset of people looking down to TVET trainees will gradually improve with more scope being offered to trainees and the TVET being one of the core components to solve the unemployment problem.
Department of Occupational Standard, Ministry of Labour and Human Resources is conducting National Assessment for NC II carpentry and Masonry at the institute.
