National Assessment for National Certificate level III for three trades i.e Carpentry, Masonry and Plumbing is on move with effect from 21st October 2019. The assessment will be of one day theory paper and three days of practical assessment.
Minister of Work and Human Settlement made his first visit in the Institute on 18th October 2019 and the his excellency expressed his dream of visiting the institute the decades back when he was an engineer. Lyonpo gave audience to the trainees and staff about the significance of TVET trainees which is very scarce currently. His excellency encouraged the trainees to come up with firms so that country can easily do away with foreign workers consequently the money we earn stays in our country.
His Excellency, the Minister of Labour and Human Resources made his second visit to the Institute on 18th October 2019. During the visit, Lyonpo gave audience to the trainees and staff regarding current status of TVET in Bhutan and about the policies that the cabinets are framing for the improvement of TVET in Bhutan.
The Institute received 3 staff from the Walo Company, Switzerland on 18th October, 2019 for the exchange program. They will be in institute for two weeks and during their stay they will attached with Welding and Masonry Department. Walo Company have been helping institute in procuring advanced machines as well as Human Resource Capacity development through exchange program.
The Institute Celebrated festival of entrepreneurs on 17th October 2019, with the aim of enriching the trainees with business ideas and entrepreneurship skills. The festival was observed with the guest lecture by Mr. Ugyen Dorji one of the successful entrepreneur, the proprietor of UD construction in Bumthang and Mrs. Chogyal Lhamo who is currently proprietor of Green Bhutan Waste Management based at Bumthang.

The solar water heating system specialist Mr. Neeraj from Nepal, JB private company, Department of Renewable Energy under Ministry of Economic Affair and the Institute will again install a solar water heating system in one of the remaining hostels starting from 15th to 20th June 2019, with the signing of MoU between two government agencies (TTI-Chumey & MoEA). During the installation, two staff from the JWPTI, three staff from TTI Chumey, three staff from JB Private company and thirteen plumbing NC III trainees will be trained for five days apart from curriculum-based training. The program was funded by HELVETAS project, Ministry of Labour and Human Resources.
The technicians from Bumthang dzongkhag, hospital, and other agencies participated in plumbing and welding short courses. The course duration was of two weeks for both the plumbing and welding and their training was completed on 12th June 2019 with the certification from the vice principal of the institute.
