Under the directives of the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources, Institute has offered a different mode of training for Plumbing NC II for 13 Trainees. After training for 13 months they appeared for NC II exams with effect from 17th to 20th September 2018.
Royal Bhutan Army from different wings joined Technical Training Institute Chumey for short course Training in Carpentry and Masonry. Institute offered 2nd Batch short course to RBA wherein previous year, the institute offered for Plumbing. This Year institute received 20 RBA trainees for two trades respectively.
Y-PEER Chumey coordinated cleaning campaign on International Youth Day with the theme “Safe spaces for Youth”. The participants are Y-PEER club members and some of the interested faculty joined the cleaning campaign where they covered 8 km collecting waste alongside the road and stream. The campaign was fully funded by the Department of Youth and Sports under the Ministry of Education. However, the participants are served with the refreshments from various benefactors and shops.
New trainees reported to the Institute on 31st July 2018. They are received by the seniors and management of the Institute. There are 80 trainees enrolled for various trade for National Certificate Level II. They will be oriented vigorously about the Institute norms and culture for two weeks before they really begin with their academic session. They are also given an overview of TVET and its significance in a country with the opportunity that they have as a technical graduate.
Based on the announcement, Institute received a good number of NC III participants for carpentry, Masonry and Plumbing. NC III regular course was started on 1st July 2018.
Technical Training Institute of Chumey signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Agriculture Machinery Centre, Paro on 31st May 2018. The MoU will further strengthen the linkage between two organisations.
The Social Forestry Day on 2nd June coinciding with the coronation anniversary of our beloved Fourth Druk Gyalpo is an important annual event for the nation. As usual, this year too, the day has been widely celebrated across the country by planting tree saplings.
Y-PEER member of institute collaborating with Forest Range office carried out new plantation and wedding at the earlier adopted area called Tendrel Thang in the morning. To mark the day, afternoon, trainees and forest officials did waste picking campaign towards institute from the site.
